- Consolidation for a D2C food subscription brand
BACKGROUND
This project was for a client in the D2C food subscription space. The goal was to resolve a content canniibalization problem where two thin blog posts on related topics were competing against each other and producing less combined traffic than a single well-optimized piece would generate.
I diagnosed the problem using GSC data showing both URLs alternating in the search results for the same queries, then developed and executed an eight-step consolidation process that extracted unique content from both posts, produced a 2,640-word guide at the merged URL, implemented a 301 redirect from the retired URL, and updated both the sitemap and all internal links.
The result was a move from positions 28 and 34 alternating to position 5 at six months, a 205% increase in combined traffic, and five referring domains earned organically from zero, on a piece that had not attracted a single new backlink in its combined 26-month existence as two separate posts.
BRAND STRATEGY
I help brands figure out their voice, their positioning, and how to communicate consistently in a way that actually resonates with the right people.
