BACKGROUND

This project was for a client in the nature writing and environmental education space. The goal was to build a newsletter with a distinct editorial identity that could hold a genuinely curious, intellectually engaged audience across a connected arc of issues.

I wrote a three-issue arc around the theme of noticing, moving from acoustic ecology to mycorrhizal networks to the linguistics of perception. Each issue was structured around a real scientific idea, treated with honesty about what is and isn't known, and closed with a practical field note designed to get the reader outside and paying attention. The result was a newsletter that earns reader loyalty by respecting their intelligence and giving them something to do with what they've just read, not just something to think about.
